Car Leasing - What can I claim?

Ahhh this is actually so incredibly useful! Honestly Im just terrible with knowing what to do with this kind of thing - cars get me confused enough as it is - top that off with finance and money and Im just completely at a loss - so this is genuinely really helpful! In terms of finance (I know this is probably a daft question) but is there a particular brand of car that gets you a better deal? For example are Peugeots going to get me a better finance deal than a Kia? Or is it totally down to the company you get the finance from? If so what are good companies I can go through to get the best deal? Is that admiral one a good one? My friend sent me this link to one called Nationwide (not the bank) http://www.nationwide-cars.co.uk/ - are they good? Or do I used confused.com or something? Honestly I have absolutely no clue so any advice or recommendations or anything would be much appreciated - single ‘no car mad boyfriend’ needs to really start to learn more about this kind of thing hahaha.... Landlords – what do you need to know about changes to electrical safety laws?

Ahhhh this is a great article!! I love love it! Me and my husband have been looking into property development for a while now so it’s great to come across an article like this! Because he doesn’t actually have a pension, we’ve been thinking about using the property ladder instead as a type of monetary buffering when we come to retirement (if we even ever do). We’ve spent quite a lot of time thinking about and researching the different types of investments. Originally we were going to do student accommodation as that seemed like a sure fire winner, but I’ve read lots of articles and spoken to a few people, and it does seem like there can be some real problems at times with that kind of investment, which has admittedly put us off! And thenn we were going to do buy to let, but we’ve now been made aware of some of the pitfalls of that too! In fact I was reading an article that said there’s no longer any tax relief or anything for buy-to-let (this is the article: https://www.emergingproperty.co.uk/insights/btl-set-to-become-buy-to-lose/). So anyway buy to let is out the window at the minute! However we have actually been thinking about looking into serviced apartments as an investment. Has anyone else invested in this type of property? Tbh it didn’t really occur to us until after we’d actually stayed in one ourselves, and loveeddd it. It just seemed like the ideal type of investment, where we could even stay in ourselves at times (I want to get one by the beach now haha). Anyways I was kind of wondering if anyone A) had any pieces of advice for us about the whole property market thing in general as that’s always massively helpful! I mean is serviced apartments a good option? We’ve done a lot of research and reading it certainly appears to be! And if people do think it’s a good option then B) we’d love to know of any good places that we can invest in! Thank you everyone - we’re very much at sea here so any help or advice is incredibly appreciated x... Read More

Is it possible to avoid the 40% tax on rental profits?

I just happened across this post and although I can’t really answer the exact ins and outs I did happen across an article the other day which said something about how SDLT doesn’t apply to commercial properties which are below £150,000, which can save a fairly high percentage for you (here’s the article if you wanted to read more: https://www.emergingproperty.co.uk/insights/how-can-investment-property-reduce-tax/ ) I think in general though it is very much down to personal circumstance, each property and situation is different. If you’re unsure I’d definitely seek further advice on the subject!... Read More

Or even more ideally used them? My husband seems really keen to invest in them as he says from his research they sound really good but I just wanted to see if anyone else had used them first! If anyone can tell us of their experience with them that would be amazing! Or even any other suggestions would be incredible! Thank you everyone - we’re very much at sea here so any help or advice is incredibly appreciated x

Packaged bank account costs?

Hi there, I sort of stumbled onto this page as I was looking for some advice on what to do about being mis-sold a packaged bank account (my husband has only recently found out that he was mis-sold one a few years ago). I don't know if anyone will be able to help me but I thought I might as well ask on the off chance! I was basically wondering (as stupid a question as this may sound) - how exactly are we supposed to go about making a claim back for it? I've read lots of conflicting advice on the subject and it's really thrown both myself and my husband. Are we better making the claims ourselves or going through a company? I was reading an article about a business called EMCAS has anyone heard of them? Would they be the type of company we should be going through? We're really at sea here so any advice anyone could offer us would be fantastic.... Read More
