Cash rich and nowhere to live

Reply to the comment left by James Barnes at 10/07/2019 - 09:28Automation is coming on leaps and bounds. We need to get people on benefits working for such a privilege. I suspect this would lead to the welfare bill declining though a combination of "I dont want to do that/ and then not be able to do their second "secret" job. Lower welfare bill hopefully equals lower taxes. Lets go further, we have a prison population who are mainly sitting idle surely they can be put to some productive use at the very least to pay for their upkeep. Lower welfare bill/ near self funding or dare I say it profitable prisons equals lower taxes for the working.... Read More

Paying Buyers Stamp Duty - offset against CGT

Paying the stamp duty would enable the buyer to free up cash. For example:-

I pay the Stamp Duty
Purchase Price £60,000
75% mortgage £45,000
No Stamp Duty (saving £1,800)
Deposit needed £15,000 to buy

The buyer pays but the price reduced by the same stamp duty
Purchase Price £58,200
75% Mortgage £43,650
Stamp Duty £1,800
Deposit needed £16,350

Therefore the landlord frees up £1350 by getting myself to pay the stamp duty.

But will HMRC see myself paying their stamp duty as an allowable cost against my CGT bill?... Read More

Bank of Ireland increase differential on tracker rates

I originally posted the email address. I to never got a response so after a week I phoned them and they said "that's strange the email address is correct (ending but we have not got it "so she then gave me another address where I could forward this on to them, over the the phone they confirmed they had received it.

Yes it does seem strange they never got it, that s two out of two times now reported on here that this email does not receive any reply, this is a bit suspicious! SO DO MAKE SURE YOU RECEIVE A REPLY confirming receipt of email. Also I am sure they at first gave me the .com email where I promptly received a message failure reply. Surely this is not their way of keeping complaints down?

In any event I know they have a complaint from me as I I have received a letter from them from the complaint they received via the ombudsmen. SO DO COMPLAIN TO THE OMBUDSMEN.

I asked them to marry up the complaint they have now received via the email to the one via the ombudsmen as the email contains many more points.... Read More

Bank of Ireland increase differential on tracker rates

I have just got round to complaining on:-

Do make sure they confirm receipt of your email rather than assume they just have it ,as previously I am sure they gave their email address ending .com instead of of course they never got that email.

I also complained to the financial ombudsmen on 0800 023 4567 it is worth doing this for those who have not done so and are instead waiting the eight weeks. They are happy to take your complaint now and will then have all your details set up if you do wish to take the case further in the future. They will also give you a reference number and send a letter if wish on your behalf to the Bank Of Ireland.

The more that complain now to the financial ombudsmen rather than wait (and perhaps not get round to it) will surely add to their figures and compel them to take action sooner rather than later.

In fact I was the second person this one representative had spoken to in 10 minutes regarding the Bank of Ireland.... Read More
