Selective licensing in Southend put on hold?

Hi, I just wondered if there are any articles going up about selective licensing in Southend? Only because I’ve had quite a bad experience and wouldn’t want other people wasting their time.

I have spent two days filling out forms and then paid (although only £6) to find out the scheme has been put on hold (this isn’t mentioned anywhere on the council site) and then I went to email them only to find out their email address doesn’t work.

Like most landlords at this time of year, we are very busy and spending two days on forms drags us away from looking after our tenants, which completed defeats the object of the scheme.

Thanks,

Josie

Sounds like Nottingham then.

I've said exactly the same. Us filling their forms takes time away from doing stuff for tenant.

I had one exact case where tenant needed boiler timer clock, no heating. I said to Licensing Do I do your form or spend 30mins getting this timer for tenant? He said the Licensing form needs doing Mick or u breaking the conditions of the License. Unbelievable.

Similar things are happening here in Cardiiff, one of our additional licensing areas has been postponed for at least 12 months- very little in the way of announcements or information particularly as Rent Smart Wales are usually happy to overload us with our legal obligations.
I fully empathise with having time wasted.
I suspect the official application to reintroduce another 5 years was forgotten due to most of our public servants are still working from home! ( an oxy moron if ever I heard one!)

Please keep us posted with what's happening in Wales with regards with the more rules they bring in, how's it impacting on tenants waiting list & rents & supply demand.
As Polly Neate of Shelter said banning Section 21 in Scotland working well, however early snippets I'm hearing is tenants can't get houses now.
