Old Gas Boiler for new – Tenant won’t sign!!

In one of my properties I have a gas boiler which needs replacing. Old Gas Boiler for new - Tenant won't sign

My tenant qualifies to have a new gas boiler fitted for free on a grant based scheme but feels uneasy about signing up for anything to do with the scheme.

The alternative is for me to pay around £1,000 for a new conventional like for like type of boiler out of my own pocket.

Is there any way around this problem so that I do not have to involve the tenant, and save some or all of the cost to myself?

Many thanks

Frank

If not already done so,show them the Government literature which spells out clearly who is entitled which hopefully will help.If the worry is to do with entering into a Government information system there should be a way of re-assuring them e.g it is registered to the property.A hint that it keeps any rent rises in check might also appeal!!!!

The irony is they could only get a free boiler because they had to go on benefits for a little while and now they have left due to getting a job elsewhere. They have been replaced with working tenants.

I recently had a boiler fitted by BG, it is free for the tenant, the Landlord has to pay a fitting charge, which in my case was only £314, which was a no brainer, if you have to have additional work done ie gas pipe upgrade to 20mm or 28mm then you will be charged extra.

yes but will landlord be breaking the law applying for grant knowing he is evicting the qualifying tenant or does it not matter
