RLA Leasehold Service Charges CourseMake Text Bigger
Service Charges, their regulation and management, can be a complex area for Landlords and their representatives to navigate. In order to help protect your investment it is vital to have an understanding of key pieces of legislation and be able to interpret the lease to reduce the areas of conflict that can arise between landlords, tenants and managing agents.
This course aims to provide those attending with an overview of the control of residential service charges that are associated with properties let in a small or large block of apartments. It will explain the fundamentals of :-
Understanding contractual obligations to pay for services,
What to do if you are unhappy with the level of service charges or quality of work, if your block managing agent is unsatisfactory, how to go about replacing them,
The statutory control and consultation requirements,
The relationship between a freeholder or headleassor and sublessors and those tenants granted tenancy agreements.
It will make reference to relevant past LVT and First Tier Property Tribunal decisions and provide details of where to find further information.
Suitable for: Landlords of existing leasehold flats, and those landlords considering buying a leasehold flat. Letting agents who manage leasehold flats on behalf of landlords, individuals involved in, or considering being involved in, managing or in becoming the freeholder or headlessor of residential developments of leasehold flats
