Question re tenant wanting to be a foster carerWhat if any are the legal implications to a landlord regarding insurance, mortgage and planning permission when a tenant becomes a foster carer?

I had this  enquiry from a landlord today whose property we are managing.  The tenant has seen in situ for over three years now and has always been a haphazard payer but has always come good in the end. She has applied to the local council/fostering agency to foster children in the rented property and this should also make her financial situation much more tenable.

I’ve not come across this before and suspect there will be no serious ramifications but I thought it would be prudent to ask the question.

Have any other Property1118 readers encountered this situation and what if anything should I be advising our client?

Any advice and guidance will be very much appreciated.

With thanks

Tony

I cannot see any probs. Insurance to be concerned about would be Foster Carers own insurance for the home and contents etc. Social services would make sure that was in order. I know a little about how it works as I fostered myself. I cant really think of anything to be concerned about . As you say there will be no excuses not to have your rent.they are desperate for foster carers.
